Our dispute resolution practice encompasses arbitration (both domestic and international) and litigation. Our lawyers represent clients in a broad range of cross-border and local corporate and commercial disputes.


We have successfully conducted trial and appellate litigation at all levels of the Singapore courts, as well as in hearings before various specialised tribunals. In addition, we have acted in arbitrations under prominent institutional rules (including ICC and SIAC rules). Our key areas of expertise include corporate and commercial disputes, minority oppression and shareholder disputes, construction and property and property-related disputes, and corporate insolvency and restructuring.


Our client representation focuses on multinational corporations as well as private and public local companies – many of which are recognised leaders of their respective industries. In addition, we represent government agencies, and high-net-worth individuals.


Some representative matters include:

  • Acting for a public listed company in the divestment of its stake in a Cayman Islands company engaged in, through its offshore (PRC) subsidiaries, environmental business operations, including  environmental construction services and environmental concession services for wastewater and water treatment and supply plants throughout the PRC 
  • ​Acting as co-counsel for a government in an ICC arbitration on a contractual dispute arising from a bid for a complex and large-scale construction project, in which the claim was valued at more than USD500 million and the counterclaims USD1 billion
    Acting as co-counsel for the owners of two steel plants in an SIAC arbitration in respect of their claim against various parties for breaches of their obligations under certain agreements in relation to the sale and purchase of the plants, in which the claim was valued at more than USD800 million

  • Acting as co-counsel in an arbitration under the SIAC Rules concerning the construction of an all risks policy in the context of a multi-million dollar claim for business interruption loss arising from the tsunami of December 2004
  • Acting as lead counsel for a US company listed on the NYSE, a leader in renewable energy solutions, in an arbitration under the SIAC Rules involving a multi-million dollar claim over the aborted sale of certain photovoltaic assets located in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia
  • Acting as lead counsel for a US company listed on the NYSE in an arbitration under the ICC Rules involving a multi-million dollar claim in relation to the alleged breach of an undertaking given in the context of the supply of certain photovoltaic modules for the construction of a power plant in India
  • Acting as lead counsel for a global bank against the directors and controlling shareholders of a public listed company in relation to substantial losses incurred by the company pursuant to the close out of foreign exchange transactions, in a claim valued in excess of SGD40 million, which involved the restructuring of the liabilities of the directors and shareholders and the eventual restructuring of the liabilities of the public listed company
  • Acting as lead counsel for a senior employee in a multi-million claim against several corporate entities and their ultimate beneficial owner for share awards and bonuses due upon the completion of the reverse takeovers of certain IDX-listed entities.
