Dawn Tan is the founding director of ADTLaw LLC. She is an experienced commercial lawyer with particular experience and expertise in the resolution of complex and high-profile commercial disputes, including complex banking, finance, company, construction, insurance, IT, IP, employment, energy and property-related disputes encompassing international arbitration and litigation.
Dawn has acted as lead counsel in international arbitrations under prominent institutional rules. She is an experienced trial litigator who has appeared at all levels of the Singapore courts, including as lead counsel. She also has a significant advisory practice, having represented and advised multinational corporations, numerous market-leading public and private companies, Singapore government-linked entities, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
Prior to ADTLaw LLC, Dawn was a partner in one of Singapore's largest law firms, a Justices’ Law Clerk in the Chambers of the former Chief Justice, Mr Yong Pung How, an Assistant Registrar in the Supreme Court Registry and held teaching appointments at the NUS Law School and the then Department of Law (now the School of Law) of the Singapore Management University. She was also with the Ministry of Trade and Industry on a programme to train Legal Service Officers for Administrative Service postings. There, she negotiated the Trade in Goods, Rules of Origin and Trade Remedies Chapters of Singapore’s Free Trade Agreements with India, Panama, Chile, New Zealand and Brunei (then known as the “Pacific 4”, the forerunners of the TPP), Kuwait and Pakistan. She also advised on the legality of anti-dumping measures taken by other countries against Singapore companies.
In addition to her practice, Dawn sits on the Board of Directors of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce. The SICC Board comprises a cross-section of the most influential business people in Singapore. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is also a member of the Global Advisory Council of Break The Ceiling Touch The Sky, Singapore’s leading leadership summit championing gender diversity. The Advisory Council comprises a selection of leading executives from global corporations. She has acted pro bono in criminal cases under the auspices of the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences and the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme.
Dawn is qualified in Singapore, England & Wales and New York.
